Job Description

??‍♂️ About the engineering team…

  • We collaborate. We program in pairs to complete sprint objectives as a team.
  • We think big and act fast to solve real-world problems.
  • We make the leap. We focus on personal development, learn, ask questions, apply what we discover.
  • We listen up and speak out. We have a constant feedback loop and adapt.
  • We work in a fast-moving agile environment.
  • Our tech stack is AWS, ReactJS, TypeScript, Next, Python, MongoDB and Cypress.

??‍? What you’ll be doing…

  • Producing good quality tested code for user stories by adhering to Unibuddy coding practices, with support and supervision.
  • Contributing to fixes, features and tests, improving documentation along the way.
  • Collaborating with your squad; designers, product managers, and engineers to contribute your ideas to define the future of the product.
  • Learning to understand and help evolve the high level architecture of Unibuddy engineering systems.
  • Identifying and fixing bugs within the owned feature area, looking to optimise existing work.
  • Actively participating in squad ceremonies, school meetings, code reviews and other meetings.
  • With support in understanding the domains and our context, developing and pushing amazing code to production!

??‍?This might be for you if…

  • You’re proficient in relevant programming languages and are constantly looking to improve your coding quality.
  • You have a real eagerness to grow and to pick up work, even if your knowledge is limited in the area.
  • You’re proactive with finding documentation to extend your current knowledge.
  • You aren’t afraid to ask for help and seek support from your squad to solve problems.

If you don't fully understand our stack, the most important thing is that you’re willing and eager to learn! If you don't meet all the requirements but think you might still be right for the role, please apply anyway. We're always keen to speak to people who connect with our mission and values.
